Purpose

The purpose of the Council of Water Leaders is to enhance water resources management by providing a forum for learning about important water issues in the North Santiam Basin. In particular, this forum aims to bring together decision-makers and other leaders in the North Santiam that influence water resources management to increase communication and coordination.

Participation

The Council of Water Leaders seeks to include a diverse array of groups involved in water resources management in the North Santiam Basin. (Examples include, but are not limited to, municipal water providers, Tribes, city and county governments, businesses, interest groups, irrigators, State and Federal agencies, and elected officials.). Participants are encouraged to regularly attend meetings as they provide an opportunity to learn, to share information, and to coordinate.

Participant Responsibilities 

Be respectful and patient 

Be respectful of speakers by refraining from interrupting and by utilizing hand raising, written messages (chat if online), and Q&A portions of meetings for questions and comments 

Make every effort to stay on topic 

Opportunities to discuss off-topic questions will be created as needed 

Participate as a representative of their organization or constituents 

Keep members of their organization or constituents they represent informed about information shared at meetings 

Refrain from advocacy

Meeting Schedule and Communications

Meetings are intended to be held on a quarterly basis. Meeting agendas will be sent out to Council of Water Leaders participants ahead of meetings. Meeting notes will be provided following meetings.
